Yoga for Self-Empowerment

Yoga for self-empowermentBy Gopi Rao

Yoga for self-empowerment is a great tool for personal development. Likewise, the word Yoga actually means union with the divine. Additionally, a Yoga student learns how to nourish the sense of divinity within through Yogic practices. With this in mind, the practice teaches the student how to live a healthy and independent life. One of the empowering parts of Yoga is how we learn to take care of our health on all levels.

Development in Practice

Students practice Yoga for self-empowerment because it trains them to claim responsibility for their lives. To that end, a student’s sense of self-responsibility grows. Our students become established in the knowledge of sustaining a state of vibrant good health.

How Does it Work?

Yoga for self-empowerment works because the student learns how to create and sustain his or her own physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The practice of Yoga has been around for many thousands of years because it works so well for so many people. Physically, Hatha Yoga offers a sequence of postures that strengthen, stabilize and tone the whole body. Hatha Yoga also helps to balance the endocrine system, which in turn helps to improve moods and sleeping problems.

Self-Reliance

After a student learns a variety of Yoga techniques and sequences, he or she can easily practice alone or in a class context. Either way, the student will then have the tools necessary to develop and maintain a strong Hatha Yoga practice without relying on any external authority or setting. This self-reliance leads to a deep sense of self-empowerment.

Struggling with Observation

Many people struggle with difficult times through different phases in their lives. Some of these struggles may cause stress, anxiety, grief, or depression. The tools offered by a regular Yoga practice help the student to witness, tolerate, and manage these emotions in a healthy way. The practice, science, and art of Yoga entice the student to stay in whatever feeling is arising, breathe into and through it. A Yoga practitioner can gently and compassionately release the energy and tension surrounding a negative feeling. By mastering the ability to witness, Yoga for self-empowerment gives us the freedom to let go.

About Witnessing

This witnessing technique teaches the Yoga student the ability to tolerate feelings without being pulled into them and overwhelmed. This skill also breaks the backbone of chemically addictive behavior by giving the student tools to tolerate a negative feeling and release it without self-medicating.

Emotional Health

Ultimately, Yoga for self-empowerment is a life-changing skill. Steady practice is incredibly empowering to the student because he or she learns to think independently. In reality, many people are dependent on the approval of others. One objective is to be able to manage the emotional flow of daily life. Furthermore, students learn to live in a healthy way, without being dependent on any external source or teacher.

Life-Changing

Truly, the practice of Yoga for self-empowerment is incredibly life-changing. The dedicated practitioner will learn a variety of techniques, tools, poses, and meditation practices to sustain and nourish a deep sense of physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

In the Beginning

At the beginning of a student’s journey, there is a learning curve where the student may be dependent on a Yoga teacher, studio, or video to teach him or her the tools necessary to build a balanced practice.

Depth of Knowledge

As the student’s Yogic knowledge deepens, he or she will become independent and self-empowered in utilizing the tools that Yoga offers to create vibrant health and well-being on all levels. As we continue practicing, yoga gives us the tools to be at ease with who we are, create perspective in challenging times, feel gratitude for what we have at this moment, and tap into our inner strength.

Coping With Stress

Yoga lessons are practiced in a variety of circumstances. Some people do yoga to cope with stress, which is one of the best ways. More often than not, people use it for strength training because they often need to be more flexible to do specific poses. Yoga also helps us sleep better. With many benefits like these, it’s no wonder that there are millions of people practicing Yoga every week!

Feel Connected To Your Body

Yoga is a practice that encourages you to feel connected to your body and mind. It cultivates stronger concentration, clarity of thought, an improved sense of awareness, as well as increased self-awareness. Many students feel a deep sense of self-acceptance.

Empowerment Through Yoga

All forms of Yoga were created for a type of healing. For the purpose of reaching different audiences there is variety. In other words, there is no singular form that addresses spiritual, emotional, mental, or physical health. The student’s first obstacle is to find the style that suits his or her needs. A student seeking spiritual guidance might be disappointed in a Power Yoga class. A student who cannot sit still while chanting might never come back to a Bhakti Yoga session. In other words, there is no one-size-fits-all in Yoga. Yet, there is a class for every need. Yoga is an art form that articulates the confidence we need to cope with life. Notably, Yoga helps us stand taller, be more open and seize the day. Indeed, we’re giving ourselves permission to live in such a way that suits our truth.

Basics of Practice

Granted, you can practice at home or in a studio. Yoga was created as a physical and mental discipline. When Yoga is practiced correctly, you gain strength and flexibility. In order to prevent injuries, you’ll practice the fundamentals of Yoga in a supportive environment. Watch a video or practice in a class that respects your experience level. Subsequently, you’ll experience a safe place to energize your body and mind. Additionally, you become inspired by the energy in the room and learn how to practice Yoga regularly.

Notice The Beauty Around You

There’s more to this world than what many of us see on the surface. Yoga helps you tap into your true internal beauty. Sometimes, people lose sight of the obvious when going for a walk. To put it another way, Yoga for self-empowerment gives you the confidence to stop and smell the flowers. Watch the animals who are watching you. With attention to nature, it’s a treasure to stop, breathe, enjoy and be thankful for life.
