We live in a hectic world. The way of life in the west is spreading all across the world, and there are fewer places to find the tranquility and peace of mind we seek. The hustle and bustle, the rush and get there on time is causing humans to stress not only there bodies, but also the environment.

No wonder the environment is facing problems. As humans we began by laboring, and then thought we would win life with getting faster, and having technology to help us. This has not been the case however, we have come to a time, when all this technology is making us work faster and not be able to take it easy. Where is the peace of mind gone, and can yoga meditation help humanity?

People need answers, and in a world where we don’t have time to give to ask questions and find answers we have created ourselves a confinement with no freedom. The major religions in the world are having a hard time keeping up. There is one wisdom that may help humanity and provide us with that peace of mind we need and seek, that is meditation or more aptly yoga meditation.

Yoga is a form of meditation which has been practiced in Asian countries for centuries, even millennia! The benefits of yoga meditation are immense. Peace of mind is one of them. When you begin meditating, you will find that your thoughts are like a busy highway! You just seem to have so many. You may even be saying you don’t have the time to meditate.

Stop! It may appear as though you don’t have time to spend 5, 10, 15 minutes to meditate everyday, but without it the chaos will always be there. No order in the mind will mean no order in the world. You must first find peace inside you. Gradually you will find your world will change.

Your thoughts become your beliefs, you beliefs determine your character, and ultimately your character and all these elements will determine what actions you will take. Whether you will constantly go for the job in a busy location, buy the house where trucks pass often, etc.

With yoga meditation you not only get peace of mind, you centre yourself. You find that you can be calmer, and problems don’t effect you as bad. Anger management is another way that yoga meditation can serve you. You can relax, and find that you are better able to handle the challenges of life.

This does not mean that you have to become some kind of a mystic for doing yoga meditation! Though many people would have looked and laughed at yoga meditation in the past, the benefits to you are immense. More and more people are realizing that today, and yoga meditation in the west is becoming very popular.

Relax, and free your mind. Take a time out, and spend it with yourself. Focus on your breath, and forget your thoughts. Forget the passage of time, and enjoy where you are at now. More peaceful people in the world will allow us to have less stress, need fewer hospitals and live longer and happier lives.

What Will Yoga Do to Help Cure Yeast Infection?

What are the benefits of a daily yoga session for sufferers of yeast infection? There is no real study yet on the link between yoga and yeast infection, but recent research has shown interesting data on the subject whereby yoga principles are seen to be beneficial to victims of yeast infection in their quest for regaining health.

Where does yeast infection come from? It is the results of Candida fungi and is also called candidiasis. The candida microbe is generally found in warm and humid pace places of the body, such as mouth, throat, intestine, and genitals. Protecting The Elderly From Falls With Yoga

With old age says scientists, yoga exercises done gently can cut the risk of falls being painful.

With as little as only two months of yoga classes, women who took part in the program for the over 65’s found that they had improved muscle strength, balance and flexibility with the result of any falls less likely and when falls did take place the recovery rate was much quicker.

They also felt more confident and had a more positive attitude the study found in the United States.

Figures show that falls are one of the most common causes of death in the over 75’s. The study also showed that half of the women die within two years of a fall.

Dr Jinsup Song researcher of the Temple University in Philadelphia said that at the end of the nine week course the women’s walking speed, strength and balance all improved along with flexibility and confidence. This also helped the women maintain their mobility and independence.

He said: There was also a pronounced difference in how pressure was distributed on the bottom of the foot, which maintains balance”. It was shown that they had improved muscle strength which helps with stability and balance.

One of the participants, Maryanne Brow, said “I feel more centered now with more confidence when I walk”.

Another benefit discovered which was unforeseen was that during the course the participants found they had a better outlook. Also the class gave them something to look forward to.

Other studies showed alarming fracture statistics, persuasive advertising, and conscientious physicians are directing millions of the worlds “worried well” to osteoporosis testing and on to preventive medication.

There is no mention of the important role that regular physical activity can play in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and reducing risk of hip fractures. Several systematic reviews of the effects of exercise on postmenopausal osteoporosis have shown an increase in bone mineral density.

“If you prevent falls, you prevent fractures,” Grabiner said. Instead, the key is preventing falls before they happen, according to researchers like Mark Grabiner, head of the movement sciences department at the University of Illinois at Chicago, who studies how people fall. Fall Prevention for Seniors: Injuries from falls are significant among the elderly population, and the risk only increases with increasing age.

After nine weeks of participating in an Iyengar yoga program designed for senior citizens, 24 elderly females had a faster stride, an increased flexibility in the lower extremities, an improved single-leg stance and increased confidence in walking and balance, according to the findings of researchers at Temple University’s Gait Study Centre.

This randomized controlled trial compared the benefits of yoga, conventional therapeutic exercise, and a self-care book for chronic low back pain. Women who are drawn to Yoga practice, and build a long-term practice, may experience significant benefits not seen in this six-week intervention.

Conclusions: a training that improves functional balance does prevent falls.

Kriya Yoga – Brief History

It was master Lahiri Mahasaya who introduced Kriya Yoga to the modern world during his lifetime in the nineteenth century, yet Kriya Yoga is, according to some scriptures, much older than that. It would appear that the Bhagavad-Gita mentions a Kriya Yogi technique in a stanza that states:

“That meditation expert becomes eternally free who, seeking the Supreme Goal (Samahdi), is able to withdraw from external phenomena by fixing his gaze within the mid-spot of the eyebrows and by neutralizing the event currents of prana and apana within the nostrils and lungs; and to control his sensory mind and intellect; and to banish desire, fear and anger.”

The Bhagaved-Gita is rumored to have been written more than 3000 years ago.

Paramahansa Yogananda writes in his “Autobiography of a Yogi” that Master Mahasaya received his teaching directly from Babaji, the Guru of all gurus. It is rumored that Babaji appears regularly among accomplished master yogis and advanced spiritual entities and that he taught the Christ and His disciples.

Why do I write that these facts “seem to be” and are “rumored to”? The answer is simple: there is absolutely no scientific proof whatsoever, not a shred of evidence to back up this information. Yet it is odd that not a single master or illuminated soul ever contradicted or denied this information.

Moreover, any accomplished master, and I mean by that one that has received the blessing of Samahdi, will tell you that you can find out for yourself by going into Samahdi where you will know all knowledge, see all things and be everywhere simultaneously.

To try and explain what happens to a soul when he reaches a state of Samahdi, one would have to listen to the story of that raindrop who fell into the ocean, suddenly realizing that he was no longer a raindrop, but the ocean itself.

Kriya Yoga is but one of many yoga techniques that prepare the candidate for this experience and it is said to be the ultimate liberation from suffering and the consequences of maya (illusion). The souls who managed to attain Samahdi are definitively freed from the bondage of kharma, the law of action and reaction or consequence.
